The FDFA advises against all travel to Sudan. The security situation is extremely unstable. The Swiss Embassy in Khartoum is temporarily closed. Thus, Switzerland has only limited or no possibilities to help in emergencies or to assist in leaving the country.

Priority Areas for 2026–2029

The programme will place stronger emphasis on peace policy and civilian protection, with particular focus on promoting International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and addressing Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV). Stabilizing displaced communities and advancing Durable Solutions - which continued despite the onset of the crisis - remain central, alongside lifesaving assistance such as food security and resilience building measures. The programme aims to balance continuity with new priorities and is organized around three Priority Areas (PA)

Switzerland will work to end the war and support a return to a civilian-led democratic transition.
