The FDFA advises against all travel to Sudan. The security situation is extremely unstable. The Swiss Embassy in Khartoum is temporarily closed. Thus, Switzerland has only limited or no possibilities to help in emergencies or to assist in leaving the country.

Protection of civilians

Switzerland will enhance civilian protection, safeguard humanitarian access, and reduce vulnerabilities, particularly for women and SGBV survivors.

Switzerland will enhance civilian protection, safeguard humanitarian access, and reduce vulnerabilities, particularly for women and SGBV survivors. Priorities include:

  • Humanitarian diplomacy and advocacy - using bilateral and multilateral channels as well as support to partner organizations, to improve humanitarian access and strengthen the protection of civilians, in compliance with IHL.
  • Addressing SGBV by improving access to services, referral systems, psychosocial support, community engagement, and coordination among experienced actors, including women-led groups.
  • Advancing Durable Solutions for displaced and conflict-affected communities, building on Switzerland’s leadership since 2021 and emphasizing community-led, sustainable approaches.
